I recently got a comment about this picture, a girl pointed out that even though my intentions behind this image may be pure (anorexia is BAD), it is still being used as a thinspirational picture by many sick, mostly girls, out there. I'm glad I got that comment, because it made me think harder about it and I realized that maybe I should write something more about what I meant and what my opinions are.
First, just to clear some things out: I do not suffer from anorexia, bulimia or any other eating disorder. I am not as skinny as this picture shows, Photoshop can do a lot. I do not think that there are any glamorous or cool things about eating disorders, and I am perfectly aware that they are diseases that ruins so many young lives.
I know that this image is contradictive; it's a picture of a skinny girl that says that eating disorders are bad, of course many people will see it as just a picture of a skinny girl and ignore the message it's trying to present. Some of you may think it's wrong of me to post this picture, because it contributes to all of those sick ideals out there. Some of you may think that I should delete it and be ashamed of myself for providing inspiration for sick people to do sick things. However, I am of the opinion that one should not ban and censor pictures, opinions and such that may or may not be used as propaganda and/or inspiration for unhealthy and "bad" things when it wasn't even the purpose to start with.
Dude, I just told you I'm not that skinny, and I'm definitely not anorexic. I don't think that it's cool at all to be anorexic, it's a horrible disease.
